What a 5-day Tel Aviv trip actually looks like
Tel Aviv is the opposite of what most people expect from the Middle East — liberal, beachside, startup-driven, and with a food scene that draws from every immigrant community in Israel. Hummus is a religion, the nightlife doesn't start until midnight, and the beach is a lifestyle.
Five days covers the beaches, White City Bauhaus, Jaffa, Carmel Market, and a day trip to Jerusalem. It's enough to understand why people fall for this city hard.

Essential Tel Aviv trip planning tips
Good planning makes Tel feel effortless. Here's what actually matters.
Beach culture
Beach is life in Tel Aviv. Fridays (Shabbat eve) are the busiest beach day. Bring minimal valuables. Free outdoor gyms, volleyball courts, and swimming year-round.
Hummus rules
Hummus is eaten for breakfast and lunch, never dinner. Abu Hassan in Jaffa closes when the hummus runs out (usually by 2pm). It's worth the line.
Expensive city
Tel Aviv is pricier than most Middle Eastern cities. A meal is $15–30, a beer $7–10. Budget $120–180/day. Street food and market eating bring costs down.
Shabbat awareness
Friday sunset to Saturday sunset is Shabbat — public transport stops, many restaurants close. Plan ahead. Tel Aviv is the most secular city, so many restaurants stay open.
Mediterranean climate
Hot, dry summers (June–September, 30°C+). Mild winters (December–February, 15–20°C). April to May and October to November are ideal visiting months.
Rent a bike
Tel Aviv is flat and has good cycle lanes. Tel-O-Fun bike share is cheap and covers the whole city. Perfect for the beach promenade.
